

COOPER, Joan Coulson MD, born July 12, 1957 and died, February 22, 2016 at age 58. She was preceded in death by her father Charlie Coulson, sister Spring Coulson, son Joseph Cooper, and daughter Mary Cooper. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Bob, children Katie, Maggie, and Danny, mother Jesse Coulson, brother Tim Coulson (Kathy) and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cherished friends. As a physician, Joan was both teacher (Toledo Hospital and Miami Valley Hospital Family Practice Residency Programs) and care provider (Temperance MI and Beavercreek OH Family Medical Centers). She respected and admired her colleagues and truly loved all of her patients. Joan’s battle with cancer exemplified her life as she did so with such strength and grace. Joan’s family is especially grateful to the wonderful physicians, nurses, and staff at Miami Valley Hospital ICU and Hospice of Dayton as they cared for her during these last several weeks. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, February 26, 2016 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd, Dayton, OH 45429. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 am, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd. Kettering, OH 45429. Because of Joan’s enriching experience working with the underprivileged in St Mary’s Parish during medical mission trips to Jamaica, we have established a scholarship fund to help sponsor local medical students and residents to find similar inspiration.
