John Rudolph Iles

ILES, John R. of Franklin Township, Ohio went to his Heavenly home on November 1, 2015. He was a much beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. John graduated from West High School in Columbus in 1962. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic. John married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Price, in May, 1964 and they lived at Fort Knox, Kentucky until John was called upon to serve a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1964/65. After leaving the Army, John was employed by Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic where he worked 35 years until retiring in 2001. He then worked at the Dayton Gospel Mission as Director of Maintenance for 14 years. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Price) Iles. Their three children and spouses are Amy (Iles) Ayers and Scott Ayers of Brookville, Ohio; Jenny (Iles) Finch and Scott Finch of Lebanon, Ohio; David Iles and Janice (Ober) Iles of Amelia, Ohio. They also have an “adopted” daughter, Jennifer Fairchild. John and Barb have been blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren; Benjamin Ayers, Daniel Ayers, Ian Finch, Ethan Finch, Emma Finch, Rudy Iles, Reagan Iles, and “adopted” granddaughter, Brittany Fairchild. John is also survived by his sister, Juanita Robinson; his sister-in-law, Joann Iles, and nephews Jeff Iles, Mark Iles, Brian Iles and Danny Robinson. John and Barb have been members of SouthBrook Christian Church since moving to the Dayton area in 2001. They were also active in the Tea Party movement. The family will receive friends from 4 pm until time of service at 7 pm, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Dayton, OH 45420.
