

Madden, John L., age 83, of Beavercreek passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at The Trinity Community of Beavercreek. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline Helen (Menges) Madden in 2003 and a brother, Neil Madden. John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Diana Madden; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Greg Jutte, Kathy Madden, Laurie and Dan Templeton; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Templeton, Jenna (Templeton) and Justin Gallaher, Michael Templeton, David Madden, Amanda (Madden)and Alex Beatty, Matthew (Amanda) Madden and Kari Madden; great grandchildren, Alivia and Arianna Beatty, Evelyn and Vivian Templeton, Carmen and Jasmine Gallaher. John was a graduate of Miami University with a BS in Education and a MA in Mathematics and was an avid lover of the Miami University Band. He retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base after 38 years of dedicated service and taught at AFIT from 1968-1990. He was a former longtime member of St. Luke Parish and a current member of St. Helen Parish. John was a member of the Beavercreek Senior Center, an avid camper and square dancer and loved traveling. Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grangehall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. from St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road with Father David Brinkmoeller, celebrant. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015. The family wishes to extend their grateful appreciation to the staff of the Trinity Community for the loving care extended to John. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
