

MARSHALL, Kenneth (Ken), age 64 of Xenia, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2016 with his loved ones by his side. Ken had a brief stay at Kettering Medical Center after collapsing at home on January 10. He was then moved to Hospice of Dayton on January 20, 2016. He was born in Toms River, NJ to Donald and Adeline Marshall. Ken graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1969, while there he was introduced to Athletic Training and decided to make that his career. He graduated from the Indiana State University in 1973 and received a Bachelor’s degree, then continued to earn his Master’s Degree in Education at the University of Dayton in 1983. His first position as an Athletic Trainer was with Central State University from 1974 to 1985. In August of 1985 he moved to Dover, DE and Delaware State University, and then in August of 1991 he moved to San Francisco State University in CA. Ohio beckoned him back again in 1995 to Central State University and in 1998 he added Sports Information Director to his duties. He retired in 2011. Ken was currently working as an Auto Title Clerk for Montgomery County. Ken has always given of himself through numerous volunteer activities. He was a member of the Xenia Kiwanis where he served as president for 2 terms and member of the Board of Caesar’s Ford Theater Group. But the service activity closest to his heart was the Special Olympics. Ken is preceded in death by his father, mother and his older brother Don Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Edie (Green). His daughter and son in-law Joanna and Jac Campbell of Midland, OH, sister and brother in-law Kathie and Ed Strawder of Toms River, NJ, granddaughter Skylar Lee Campbell, 12 sisters-in-law, 11 brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 pm – 7 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd., with a prayer service to follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics of Dayton, 4130 Linden Ave. #310, Dayton, OH 45432.
