Larry was a 1973 graduate of Brookville High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. Cox and Mary Ellen (Mattis) Cox.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Katherine “Kay” Cox; his children, Jennifer (Troy) McGuinness, Elizabeth (Jackie Ruiz) Cox, and Lee (Diana) Cox; his brother, Gary Cox; grandchildren, Trevor (Avery), Kathryn, and Ean McGuinness, Hunter and Carter Cox, and Stephanie Ruiz; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A man who loved working with his hands, Larry had a lifelong passion for building and fixing things. His interests included carpentry, football, antique gasoline hit-and-miss engines, fishing with family, tending the garden, collecting antiques, and tinkering with Erector Sets and toy steam engines—a hobby he never truly outgrew, simply expanding into bigger projects. Larry was a “snow bird” who enjoyed spending time in Florida and working on projects for the condo association.
Larry was known for his generosity and reliability. If someone needed help, Larry showed up. He appreciated the simple things in life, especially the sweet corn he grew in the summer and time spent outdoors. He made sure his home-grown vegetables were shared with family, neighbors, and friends.
Larry’s life was defined by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for his family. He built more than structures and projects—he built strong foundations in the lives of those around him. Larry’s grandchildren will remember him not only for what he built, but for the steady support, quiet encouragement, and time he gave so freely. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in being present, dependable, and supportive in all that he did.
His absence leaves a deep void, but his example will continue to guide and comfort those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A special thank-you to our “extended family” at Royal Caribbean Cruise Line for the support and compassion shown during this difficult time.
