Leonard M Neal, a devoted and compassionate individual, passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on June 9, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio, Leonard was known for his loyal, selfless, and thoughtful nature. He was a resident of Dayton, Ohio, throughout his life.
Leonard graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio, in 1977. He went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he served for 12 years. During his military career, Leonard was mentioned in the newspaper several times and won many awards for his exceptional culinary skills. He specialized in crafting candy boxes out of sugar, decorative butters, and highly detailed cakes.
In his personal life, Leonard was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed shooting. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Leonard had a passion for collecting Eagles, Coins, Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, Army memorabilia, and American Flags. He also enjoyed playing pool and darts and was an avid football fan, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being his favorite team.
Leonard was a devoted dad who took great pleasure in spending time with his children and their friends. His legacy is marked by his generosity and the deep love he had for his family.
Leonard was predeceased by his father, Glen E. Neal, his nephew, Justin Neal, his nephew, Gary Boyd, his grandmother, Linda Townsend, and his grandfather, Cassius Townsend. He is survived by his mother, Rethia Virginia Gooch; his children, Crystal Fulton (Timothy), Joshua Luke Cantrell (Melissa), Nicole Neal, and Justin Leonard Neal; his grandchildren, Adrianna "Butterfly" Fulton, Myles Cantrell, Dallas Boles, David Bracken, Landon Cantrell, B.J. Johnson, and Cahliel Osama; his siblings, Jerry Neal (Chai), Martha Boyd (Gary), Cassius "Billy" Neal, and Charles Neal (Tina); his nieces and nephews, including Jason Neal, Travis Neal, David Boyd, Jerry Neal Jr., Josh Neal, Joshua Williams (Sarah), Bradley Williams (Danielle), Amanda Boyd, Lynn Boyd, Lisa Neal, and Lindsey Neal; and his friend Teresa Rider (John Rider). He also leaves behind his beloved granddog, Scooba, and numerous extended family and close friends.
Leonard's final resting place will be at Royal Oak Memory Gardens in Brookville, located at 7217 National Road. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
