Words simply can not express the sadness and pain that our family is feeling with the loss of my brother, Loren. We will never forget your witty sense of humor, your love for old country songs, your uncanny ability to recognize every actor in a movie and tell us everything else you've ever seen them in. I will always remember staying up late and watching Bob Schrieve and old movies with you. I'll always remember our Trac-ball and frisbee-playing. The sound of the Cincinnati Reds on the radio in our front yard, with you, Dad and Charlie tipping back some beers were the sound track to my Summers, growing up. Only to be replaced by the sound of Classic Country  and Bluegrass being played all night. Some of my favorite memories were sitting around the bonfires in the driveway, with you and Charlie trying to see how big you could get them before Mom yelled at you, or before you caught Mrs Penny's trees on fire, lol. So many wonderful memories. I still simply can't believe that you're gone, even though we were all with you as you passed, it all seems like a horrible dream that we just can not wake up from. Our hearts are broken. I love you,  Big Brother, and we will make sure to keep your memory alive with all the funny stories that we will keep telling your beautiful grandchildren. Rest In Peace, dear Brother, until we meet again. I love you more than words can say.

A few memories of my big brother, Loren Wilson
At around 7 or 8 years old, Loren and I used to get up early on Saturday mornings because, after a Friday night of playing cards, our parents slept in.  Loren and I would go into their room and ask for our 25 cents allowance and dad would say to get it from his pants pocket.  We were known to take a little more than a quarter apiece, and would stash it for future purchases.
We would take off and head to Bud Granato’s to buy candy, or, if we thought we could get away with it, we’d go to Brown Street, which was 15 blocks away, to the House of Magic.  We were only allowed to cross Pierce Street to go to Granato’s, and no further.  To get to the House of Magic, we had to cross some dangerous streets like Wayne Ave. and Wyoming St.
Loren and I fought each other, a lot, but we were partners in crime and there was no way another kid was going to mess with either one of us without the other one coming to the rescue.
The Wilson Boys were known for having 4th of July fireworks, and most of the kids in the neighborhood knew we were good for firecrackers, cherry bombs and Roman Candles.  
One year for Christmas we each got a 26” Huffy bicycle and if mom and dad would have known of our escapades, we probably would have been grounded for life.  It was understood that we were allowed to ride anywhere in the neighborhood, but of course, what our parents didn’t know, didn’t hurt them.
Looking back, I realize that we may have acted like arch enemies, but in reality, we were best friends.  To this day, there are still secrets of ours that no one knows about.



My heart is with Loren’s family.  There never seems to be the right words to say when met with grief.  I hope you all feel surrounded by much love.  Loren was a great father, husband, son, and bother-in-law.  I’m sharing in your sadness and sending healing thoughts and prayers for grace and comfort through your loss

My heart is broken. We shared a lifetime together. Even when we weren’t together, we weren’t really apart. Through all the good times, and the bad, you remained my best friend. Our kids are a testament to a love we shared with no one else. I still jump up to tell you about something I read, or saw, that I knew you’d get, even if no one else did. 
The tears haven’t come yet, because it still doesn’t seem real, but when they do, I’m afraid they’ll never stop.

I had never met Loren till he showed up at our family's house in Kansas City with his girl and my friend, Janet.  He fit in with all of us like we had known him forever. Loren had such a sense of himor. It was low key but the kind of humor that made you chuckle whenever you remembered him. One day he had gone to fill up his tank, which he stated got about 11 gallons to the mile. As he entered the house we called out, "Loren's back".
     Immediately he corrected us, "No, Loren's front." Then he did an about face and informed everyone, "This is Loren's back". 
      I still use that line to this day. Rest in peace, my friend.

Loren was a good friend to our family. He helped our Uncle with his slot car business . The picture shows Loren with the National slot car racing trophies he won in 1966….happy times, before Vietnam.
