Marcella Merz

Marcella Merz, age 76 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Cora Cooper. She is survived by two children: Leah Sax (Tony) of Dayton and Jacob (Tina) Merz of Miamisburg. Five grandchildren also survive her: Cory, Cortney, Austin, Rachel and Katie, as do five great grandchildren; Jayden, Greyson, Skye, Desmond and Sylas. She is survived by two sisters: Donna Smith and Carla Rash, her niece Christina and many many cousins. Marcella was a 1967 graduate of Stivers High School, a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, was commissioned into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a life member of the NRA and ORPA (Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association). She was a past member of Central Church of the Nazarene and a current member of Parkview Church of the Nazarene. She loved genealogy, music and quilting. Marcella generously donated her body to Wright State University for study. A memorial service will be held for her on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel at 2 PM. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of the service.
