

SCHAFFER, Margaret (Ruth), age 77 passed away peacefully Monday, October 19, 2015 at Heartland of Kettering. Margaret was born in Lima, Ohio, on Jan. 29, 1938 and she was raised in Middletown. She was a 1956 Middletown High School graduate, and a 1960 graduate of Miami University in Oxford. After receiving her teaching degree, she became a buyer at Rikes in downtown Dayton. She then spent many rewarding years as a homemaker, where she was an active volunteer with the PTA, cub scouts and girl scouts. Later, she was the gift shop manager at Good Samaritan Hospital. Most importantly, Margaret was a devoted mother; she brought a warm and giving spirit in all her endeavors, and she will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Ruth and Margaret Ruth (Hayden), and her husband of 17 years, Anton J. Schaffer DDS. Margaret is survived by her children; Michael Schaffer and James Schaffer, both of Ft. Myers, FL, Lynn Schaffer (Dave Denlinger) and Paul (Tynetta) Schaffer all of Kettering, grandchildren; Gregory Hall (Ariana Clark) of Dayton, and Ali Schaffer and Blair Siciliano both of Ft. Myers, FL. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel; where service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, with Rev. Don Payne officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in Margaret’s memory to your local Humane Society or SICSA.
