
SHULTZ, Marvin, age 87 of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2015. Marvin was born on June 24, 1927, here in Dayton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Elizabeth (McGraw) Shultz; sister, Naomi L. Shank; brother-in-law, Quentin Shank as well as many dear and very close friends and relatives. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna J. (Shroyer) Shultz; sister, Vada F. Brown; brother-in-law and lifelong friend, H. Eugene Brown of Columbus, OH; close and loving nieces, Jamie Ann Brown of Worthington, OH, Donna Sue Erickson (Carl) of Durham, NC, Kelli (Ben) Swisher of Dayton, OH, nephews, L. Douglas Morgan of Mexico, Gary (Chris) Morgan of Key West, FL, Steven (Debbie) Shank of Mt. Doria, FL, a very special loving family relationship of Lynda and Dean Pingrey of Kettering, OH, “granddaughter,” Emily Anne Pingrey Mitsch (Brian) of Washington Township, OH, and our dearest little ones, Joseph Dean and Grace Elizabeth Mitsch. He graduated from Stivers High School in 1945 where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. In 1948 he graduated in the first class at Sinclair Community College. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and was recalled during the Korean War. Marvin was a sports enthusiast his entire life participating (along with baseball and basketball) in handball, racquetball, squash and many happy years at Hollinger Tennis Club with very close friends. He spent his life working at Gem City S&L, North Central Mortgage, Homestead Federal S&L, with part-time after retirement at Kiefer-Mitchell Title Attorneys. Donna and family give their heartfelt “thank you” to the loving and caring Hospice staff. Especially to the many daily dear and congenial caregivers. To Kim, who has been our constant strength since the start of Hospice, always so helpful, kind and faithful. To Rhonda, our RN, for her keen knowledge and consistent uplifting demeanor with each visit. And to Dr. Cass of Hospice for her continued input and availability. All angels of mercy and responsible for Marv’s ability to remain in his home. Marvin will always be remembered for his pleasant smile and kind and friendly disposition always to everyone he met. May he rest in peace. The family will receive friends in the Community Reception Room at David’s Cemetery Mausoleum on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 12pm until 2pm.
