Mary Louise Elmore, mother to Floyd Saunders Elmore and Brenda Kay (Elmore) Talbott, passed away at 9:20 am on June 29, 2023, after living a long life of 94 years. Her final moments were spent peacefully at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, being visited by her extended family and friends.
Mary Lou to all who knew her well, she was born in LaFollette, Tennessee, on November 24, 1928. Mary moved to Dayton, Ohio, in 1947. She worked for Dayton Dress Company as a dress hemmer. Later she worked for 27 years prior to her retirement as a patient accounts representative for Miami Valley Hospital. Mary was a member of the Dayton Baptist Temple where she was active as an interpreter in the ministry to the deaf.
Mary was predeceased by her father and mother, Hoge and Ethel Swafford; and her two brothers, Samuel and Nolan Swafford. She is survived by her two children and their spouses: Floyd Elmore (wife, Pam) of Fort Mill, SC, and Brenda Talbott (husband, Tim) of Beavercreek, OH; her six grandchildren (Nathan, Alicia, Joel, Jared; Rachel and Brian), and nine great-grandchildren. (Her fudge recipes will live on in the kitchens of her grandchildren!)
Known for her impeccable style and well-organized life, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and a caring heart. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mary’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life – especially the holiday parties – and not the sadness of her passing.
A ceremony will be held at Tobias Funeral Home (Beavercreek Chapel), on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends there at 10:00 – 11:00 am before the celebration of life service begins. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary (made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton).
