She was one of seven children: Rita Watson (deceased), Jan Zukowitz (deceased), Richard Watson (deceased), Carole Focke (deceased), Jackie Mahle, and Sandi Horn.
Her greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, celebrating their milestones, supporting their dreams, and creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. Her love was steady, generous, and kind.
A lifelong reader, she found comfort, adventure, and connection in books. She participated in numerous book clubs over the years, forming friendships and sharing conversations that enriched her life. Her passion for learning never faded; later in life, she returned to Sinclair Community College, where she eagerly enrolled in classes simply because they interested her.
After raising her children, she returned to the workplace and spent 20 years with Key Bank. She took pride in her work and genuinely enjoyed engaging with customers, offering kindness and connection in every interaction.
She made friends easily, and those friendships became a treasured part of her life. She loved to travel, embracing new places and new people with an open heart. The highlight of her travels was a memorable trip to Europe, where she formed friendships that lasted for years. She stayed in touch with the people she met along the way, a testament to her warmth and her ability to make others feel seen and valued.
A devoted Catholic, she lived her faith with quiet strength and sincerity. She instilled those values in her family, offering guidance, comfort, and a spiritual foundation that continues to shape their lives. Her light and love continue to shine through all who knew her.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Don and her parents. She is survived by her children Greg (Jenny), Mark and Amy Young (Ron); grandchildren Andrew Walker, Kevin Walker, Jeff (Amanda) Walker, Rebecca (Mark) Pincelli, Emily (fiancé’ Anthony Vargas) Walker, Sara Walker, Abby Walker, Reed (Kirsten) Abahazie, Regan Abahazie, Mitchell Abahazie and Ian Abahazie; great grandchildren Reese Walker, Colin Walker, Desmond Pincelli and Ophelia Pincelli, James Abahazie. Her legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the books she loved, the journeys she embraced, the faith she lived, and the family and friends she held so close.
A service honoring her life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
