Miriam Dorothea Simpson, age 96, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Clarence C. and Selina Lucille (Renick) Brown who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James W. Simpson, Jr., and her son-in-law, Stephen Herminghuysen.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Judith (Simpson) Herminghuysen of Lebanon, Ohio; son, Steven (Mary Jo) Simpson of Mason, Ohio; grandchildren, Lori (Edward) McColley, of Lebanon, Ohio; Todd (Diana) Simpson of Ontario, Canada; Anna (Nicholas) Bogan of Mason, Ohio; and Leah (Matthew) Robbins of West Chester, Ohio. Miriam is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Miriam graduated from Oakwood High School in 1944 and worked in the Kettering Schools as a cafeteria cook for over twenty-five years. She belonged to Faircreek Church and Dayton Family Campers. She enjoyed church, sewing, camping, and her family (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately call her “Grammy the Great.”
The family will receive loved ones and friends on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at the Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM. A private burial will take place Monday, 02/13/2023.
