Norma Jeanne Spencer, age 83 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at her residence. She was born in West Frankfort, IL on August 30, 1929 to the late Thomas B. and Marjorie (McIntosh) Henson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald B. Spencer; sons, Michael (Darlene), David (Catherine), James, Jerrold (Terri) and Roger (Kristina); 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one sister, Emma Sue (George) Raabe.
Jeanne was a very active member at Community United Methodist Church in Dayton. She also was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Jeanne retired from Dayton Public School System after 15 years of service, after which she volunteered her time at Miami Valley Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 9, 2012 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT CHAPEL, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton, 45420 with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of service. Interment will follow the service at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton, in Jeanne’s memory.
