

Randy E Quick, father, husband, brother, son, went to be with the Lord on 5 Mar 2023. Randy was born 17 Oct 1954 in Hampton VA into a military family. His father’s assignments took them to Virginia, Alaska, France and South Carolina before the family settled in Sanford, North Carolina. Randy graduated from Sanford Central High School in 1972 and initially attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In 1975, he joined the US Navy as an electronics technician and served for 6 years on active duty and 3 years in the reserves, with his final assignment on the USS Frank Cable. After leaving the military, he went back to school, this time to North Carolina State University and got his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1987. He moved to Centerville in 1990 and embarked on a long career in the defense industry, working as a test engineer and project engineer before finding his calling as a program manager. Over the years, Randy established a reputation for building outstanding teams and for sharing both the hard work and avidly supporting his teammates. He became a military spouse when he married Terri in 1991 and was a strong champion throughout her US Air Force career and their many moves. In his free time, he was a passionate supporter and cheerleader for his boys, Stephen and David, going to soccer and basketball games, sharing his love of golf with them and serving as the advancement chair for Scouts BSA Troop 516 at Southminster Presbyterian in Centerville. Both of his sons earned their Eagle Scout and credited Randy for his support and encouragement in their accomplishment. When granddaughter Zain came to live with the family, he also added dance and softball to his roster. Randy was a long-time member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville where he was a regular participant in the summer golf league as well as ushering, being a middle school youth mentor, serving on the global missions team and leading the annual Adopt a Family Christmas gift program. Randy will be remembered as a kind and generous man of faith, with a sharp sense of humor and the ability to make friends in a room full of strangers.
Randy is survived by his wife, Teresa (Anderson) Quick, and their sons, Stephen James and David Matthew, his granddaughter, Zain Elizabeth Quick, all of Centerville OH and grandson, Landon Matthew Dougherty of Myrtle Beach SC, as well as his sisters Debbie (Cullen) Fisher, Cindy (Mike) Cain, Wanda (Chet) Chester, brother Greg along with his cousin Charles (Donna) Goodwin, all of Sanford NC, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen Calvin Quick and Juliette Quick, his former spouse, Joan (Squire) Ruiz and their daughter Jamie Caroline Quick.
