Rita A Gabel

GABEL, Rita A. nee Post, born January 8, 1934 in Curacao (Dutch West Indies) passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2016 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents Roel and Jannetje Post of The Hague, Holland; her sister Marjon of Amsterdam and her brother Jon Roel of Rotterdam. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Gabel DVM and their four children: Debra (Bruce) of Dayton, Ohio and their sons Alex, Eric and Adam; Steve (Susan) of Evansville, IN and their children Leslie and Tommy; Terry (Reggie) of Columbus, OH and Jimmy (Stacy) of Dayton, OH and their daughter Katy. She received an associates degree as a chemical analyst and also worked as an English Interpreter for the Canadian embassy in Holland. She met her husband Jim as he was serving in the USAF in Germany. They were married there and made their way to Dayton, OH where they raised their family. She was very talented in linguistics, had a great eye for interior design and was a fierce card player! She will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her. The family will hold a private memorial service with her eventual internment at David Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to St. Jude's.
