

Robert Vincent Branion Jr. formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, Ohio. He was born on November 13, 1947, in Lackawanna, New York to parents Robert Vincent and Helen (Kalt) Branion who preceded him in death. A sister, Charlotte (Branion) Johnson also preceded Robert in death.
Robert is survived by his wife, Martha (Leusch) Branion; children Tim (Colleen Moore) Branion and Suzy (Tyson) Back; and grandchild, Dorothy Marie Back.
Robert is a 1969 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana. He also obtained a Master of Theology degree in 2003 at Saint Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Robert spent thirty plus years as a chemical engineer at US Steel in Gary, Indiana. During that time, he was responsible for developing a patent for de-sulfurizing steel.
Robert was a long-time member of Saint Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church in Beverly Shores, Indiana. In recent years, Robert and Martha moved to Dayton, Ohio to be closer to their granddaughter, Dorothy. After moving to Dayton, they joined Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kettering, Ohio. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.
Later to be determined by the family, Robert’s ashes will be laid to rest at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to The Archdiocese of Chicago's broadcast ministry serves countless people who cannot attend Mass in person due to various circumstances.
