

Born in Dayton, Ohio, on October 7, 1928, he graduated from Beavercreek High School, 1946. He joined the US Army National Guard in 1948 and served until his discharge in 1951. He went on to earn a degree in accounting from Miami-Jacobs Business College, School of Business Administration, 1955.
During his 50-year sales career, Bob joined Moran Paint Company then advanced his engineering sales career at Dayton Coil Spring Company, retiring from Twist Inc. He also founded S&M Spring Company.
Bob was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for sixty-eight years.
A gifted civic leader and humanitarian, Bob was a member of Beavercreek Lions Club sixty-four years, Beaver Valley Masonic Lodge seventy years, Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite 32 Degree, fifty-eight years, Shriners of North America, Antioch Temple fifty-four years and in 2000 Captain of Mariners.
In 1952, Bob married the love of his life, Shirley Armstrong, and together they treasured 72 wonderful years.
He is survived by Shirley and their cherished family, children Pam (Larry) Tucker (Davidson, NC), Becki McCoy (Hudson, OH) and Bobbi Shreve (Centerville, OH); Grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Klauka, Amanda Gale, Brent (Molly) Shreve, Stephen Shreve, Lauren (Bryan) Gramlich and David Shreve; Great grandchildren, Brooke Klauka, MacKenzie Klauka, Shepherd Shreve, Ellis Gramlich and Foster Shreve; sisters Carol Ellen Dunnigan of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sandra Helen Smith of Xenia, Ohio; brother Ronald Lee Smith of Huber Heights, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Real and Helen (Benham) Smith, as well as his brother, Kenneth (Carol) Smith and sister-in-law Judy Smith.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his many caregivers at Bethany Village and his at-home caregiver, Jeanette Watson.
The family will receive loved ones and friends on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3530 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a celebration of life service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow immediately at Valley View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
