

PRICE, Roy “R.E.”, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012. R.E. was born in Dot VA on November 12, 1920. His family moved to the Dayton area when he was 9. He graduated from Stivers High School. R.E. was Army veteran of WW II. He served in North Africa and Italy where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He spent two years in the military hospital at Rome GA. After the war R.E. became a draftsman and worked for several tool companies including Shefield, Bendix and GE. He was coach/manager of an amateur basketball team sponsored by Milletts. Several of his players went on to play for the University of Dayton. R.E. was preceded in death by parents, Everett and Maude Livingston Price; his beloved wife, Micki; brothers, Huey and John; and a sister, Ruby Steele. He is survived by his children, Tom (Joyce), John, Jim (Susan), and Kim (Alan) Zimmer; grandchildren, Troy and Shelly; sisters, Ruth Ford and Peggy Price; special friend, Judy Hamer; nieces and nephews, Jeri Turpin, Scott Price, Barbara Woodward, Cyndi Palazzo and Tracey Bucher; great grandchildren and many great nieces and nephews. R.E. was an avid horse racing fan and until his most recent illness enjoyed going to the track with his racing cronies “Big John” and Steve Giallombarado.
