

Rudolf H (Rudy) Gradtke, age 78 of Beavercreek, went home to be with Jesus on June 22. He fought a 10 yr. battle against cancer with strength and dignity from The Lord. Born in Lithuania to German parents, he was the 7th of 10 children. He came to America in 1952, and later graduated from Kiser High. He entered the United States Army in 1959, and served proudly. Rudy retired as a truck driver from BP in 2001, was a member of the Dayton Liederkranz Club, and was an avid bicyclist. He completed the TOSRV 23 times, riding 210 miles over two days. He was a member of Beavercreek Christian Church, and while in his home in TN, a member of the First Christian Church in Rogersville. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Gradtke, one daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Tom Buelow, one son, Steven Gradtke, Five grandchildren, Brooke Gillen and husband Cory Gillen, Ashlei Back, Daniel and Richie Wildenhaus, and Aliyah Hymer, three great-grandchildren, Cole and Cayden Back, and Henry Wildenhaus. He is also survived by sisters and brother-in-laws, Trudy and Lenny Smith, Alma and Bob Whitaker, sisters, Karin Neaderboamer, Edith Zakel, brother and sister-in-law, Manfred and Maggie Graedtke, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Rudy was greatly loved and respected by many, and he will be truly missed. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall on Thursday evening, June 26 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning, June 27, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
