After graduating from Wilbur Wright High School in 1947, Ginny earned a stenographic degree with honors from Miami Jacobs College in 1948. Prior to starting a family, she worked as an Executive Assistant at Miami Valley Hospital. For the last 20 years of her career, Ginny served as the parish secretary for St. George’s Episcopal Church, and she continued in volunteer roles for many years afterward.
Ginny loved taking care of her vast collection of houseplants and quilting keepsakes for her family. She was proud of her command of the English language and was a spelling bee champion. She constantly surprised her family with an amazing memory for dates and details.
Above all, Ginny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married John Richard “Jack” Crane on April 6, 1956, falling just shy of celebrating 66 years of marriage before Jack passed away on March 17 of this year. Jack and Ginny were a model of prioritizing faith, family, hard work and responsibility to their three children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Ginny is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by son Douglas and daughter-in-law Tamara (Hopkins) Crane, son Eric and daughter-in-law Janet (Peters) Crane, daughter Sue Crane, grandchildren Erika, Amy, Alyssa, Emily, Austin, Nicole, Marie, Michelle, and Nadia, and great-grandchildren Avery, Christian, Knox, John, Hunter, Sophie, Ethan, Joanna, and Elliot.
A memorial service to celebrate Ginny’s life will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 6th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. George’s Episcopal Church or Hospice of Dayton.
