
Virginia Marie Unger, age 88 of Centerville and formerly of Riverside, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at St. Leonard Nursing Facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Cecelia Hesting. She is survived by her children: daughter, Maribeth and husband Scott Schierling of Bellbrook and sons: Michael D. and Yolanda Unger of Waynesville, John T. and Marsha Unger of NC and Dan E. and Jane Unger of Waynesville. Six grandchildren also survive her: Emily, Daniel, Cassandra, Margaret, Susan and Matthew, as does a sister, Patricia Cirillo of NJ. Virginia was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps as a graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and was retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was an avid volunteer for many causes both before and after her retirement. Virginia’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the St. Leonard Center and the nurses and aides from Hospice of Dayton for the superb care they gave her. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Leonard Faith Community, 8100 Clyo Rd, Centerville, OH 45459 on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11 AM with Fr. Loren Connell, celebrant. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
