

officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Stephens Funeral Home of Dekalb. Mr. Cherry passed away at his home Thursday. He retired as a rural mail carrier and was a WW2 veteran serving in
the US Army and US Air Force of which he was very proud. He loved golfing,
gospel music and serving as deacon, song leader and Sunday school teacher
in Bay Springs Baptist Church. Surviving family includes his children Joe Cherry
of Biloxi, Keith (Gwen) Cherry of Porterville, Sandra (Ted) George of Dekalb,
Teresa (Jeff) George of Dekalb, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren,
step sons Wayne (Yvonne) George of Meridian, Wendell (Gatha) George of
Dekalb, brothers Edwin (Lois) Cherry of Forest and Ralph (Jean) Cherry of
Texas, sister Katherine Darnell of Monroe, LA. and numerous nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Cherry, brothers
Richard Cherry, Cecil Cherry and daughter in law Mary Cherry. Pallbearers
serving are Bobby McDade, Dr. Danny Clifton, Jack Newell, Walter Hammack,
Joe Lee Newell and Marvin Wiggins. Visitation will be one hour prior to service
at the church.
