Charles "Sonny" Terry

Charles “Sonny” Terry, 82, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Visitation will be on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Eric Albright officiating. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Sherry; brother, Greg; daughters, Traci Jones (David), Jennifer Cannon (Jason), and Lisa Martin; 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elba; mother, Doris; son, Jeff and granddaughter, Hannah.

Sonny was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He left behind a lifetime of memories and stories that will be cherished by all who knew him. He was a proud veteran, who served his county in the United States Army. Sonny was a man of simply joys and strong passions. His favorite pastime was coin collecting; a hobby he took great pride in the last few years of his life. You could often find him on the golf course, out hunting in the woods, fishing by the water, or picking a guitar. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. He was also a devoted fan of Alabama football. Sonny will be remembered for his love of family and the many hobbies that brought him happiness throughout his life. His presence, stories, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who loved him.

Pallbearers will be Codey Terry, Michael Downs, Braxton Bolan, Hunter Alexander, Kaleb Terry, and Cade Upton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
