In a span of 93 years, many chapters of life turned for Pat. Decatur being his childhood home, graduating from Decatur High School where his fondest memories were playing football with the “Ogle Boys.” Pat went on after high school to Korea where he earned rank of SGT Medical Airman with the Army. After his service to his country, Pat went on to another chapter, graduating 5th in his class at Auburn Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University.
After college, he was offered a position with Westinghouse in Lima, Ohio. He held a supervisor position there for 30 plus years. After retiring, he and his first wife, Mabel moved to her childhood home in Mississippi. They enjoyed many happy retirement years as well as 50 years of marriage. After her passing another chapter of life comes for Pat.
Pat and Janet were married, she also lost her husband Charles of 49 plus years. Both living up north during their life, winters with snow and cold weather, they decided to move to Decatur to Pat’s childhood home. There they enjoyed freedom to travel and spend 20 happy years of marriage; many of them at Southside and Methodist Church. With Pat’s failing health, his last two years were at Riverside Senior Living. During his passing, his wife Janet, his Riverside family, Hospice of the Valley, Leighann, Carol and Penny, Chaplain Rick were all at his side.
Proceeding him in death were his father, Clarence Aday Sr., mother, Lynell Hazelwood, sister, Sarah Ruth Grisham Aday and his stepdaughter, Beverly Soudrette.
Celebration of Pat’s life and the many people he touched during his walk through life will be at a later date.
