Doris Hazel Terry

Doris Hazel McRight Terry (92) of Decatur went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 3, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 11:00 am til 1:00 pm at Austinville United Methodist Church, funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Dallas Culver and Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends

Mrs. Terry was born August 31, 1923 in Mt. Hope, Al . She graduated from Austinville High School where she was an All County Basketball player. She was a hair dresser for 30 plus years and she also was an avid square dancer with the Promineers for 35 plus years. Mrs. Terry was a long time member of Austinville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for the young children and she was also a member of the church choir.

Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Elizabeth McRight; her husband, Elba Leon Terry; grandson, Charles Jeffery Terry; brother, Davis McRight; two sisters, Lorene Smith and Chris Cagle.

Mrs. Terry is survived by two sons, Charles (Sonny) Elba Terry (Sherry) and Davis Gregory (Greg) Terry (Robin); 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris showed love to everyone she met and everyone was her pride and joy.

Mrs. Terry’s family is sincerely grateful to Hospice of the Valley and Falkville Nursing Home for the loving care for Doris while she was a resident, but they extended and exceeded that same loving care to her family.
