Graveside service for George Dwayne Wright, 64, of Decatur will be today, May 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Wright, who died Monday, April 30, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital, was born February 27, 1948, in El Dorado, Ark., to Major George H. Wright and Norma Jean Wright. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1966 where he lettered in basketball under Coach Earle Morris and set school records for high hurdles and track under Coach Ogle. He was president of Tau Kappa Fraternity. George was an electrician for Perry Company. He was the founding member/keyboard player/vocalist/front man for the very popular group "The Regents Five." Other members include John Woods, drums, Steve Underwood, bass, Bobby Aycock, guitar/vocals and William Kruidenier, guitar/vocals. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother, Walter Eugene Wright of Decatur.
Honorary pallbearers will be The Regents Five.
