James Connell Chapman Jr.

Funeral for James Connell Chapman Jr., 76, of Decatur will be Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Towles officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Chapman, who died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Parkway Medical Center, was born December 5, 1935, in Birmingham to James C. Chapman Sr. and Eleanor Gilbert Chapman. He retired as a chemical engineer from Monsanto. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Elizabeth V. Chapman.

Survivors include his wife, Stella "Nell" Chapman; one son, David Mark Chapman (Susan) of Madison; two daughters, Vickie Chapman Baughman (Winston) of Tuscaloosa and Patty Ann Chapman of Decatur; stepson, Scott Allen Ratliff of Fort Wayne, Ind.; stepdaughter, Angela Ratliff Adcock (Mark) of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Chapman, Allison Mills Baughman, Nicolas James Chapman, Morgan Randall Adcock (Jeanna) and Amye Catherine Alder (Mike); and a great-grandchild, Harper Joy Adcock.

Pallbearers will be Winston Baughman, Neal Chapman, Morgan Adcock, Frank Camper, Doug Chapman and Raymond Gamble.
