

Funeral for Elder James E. Powell Sr, 83, of Trinity will be Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Craig Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Burningtee Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 3:00 to 5:00 at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell died Friday, April 17, 2015, at Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born December 28, 1931, in Monroe County, Alabama to Lessie Bryan Powell and Arney Monroe Powell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Nall Powell, sisters Eulene Miller, Tressie Evers, Sarah Purvis, and Grandson Jerome Powell. He was the Patriarch of the Powell family, a great and good man. If there is any question, one need only look at his children and grandchildren. He has laid claim to the great promise Christ made on the night that He was betrayed when He told his first disciples “in My Father’s house are many mansions.” Jim, has one now.
He is survived by one son, James E. (Jimmy) Powell Jr. (Belinda) of Trinity, Al; three daughters, Wanda Woodall Birge (Jim) of Trinity, Becky Howard (Randy) and Marsha Woodbury (Chuck), all of Decatur; grandchildren, Jeron Powell (Tina), Andrea Mitchell Whisenant, Emily Woodall, Frank Woodall, Lacey Harshbarger, Lynnsey Harshbarger, James Birge, Jennifer Pumphrey (Dorsey), Adam Page and Josh Page (Brandi). Ten great-grandchildren and a host of others that knew him as Granddaddy.
Pallbearers will be Jeron Powell, Frank Woodall, Adam Page, Vincent Pupo, Derek Blagburn, Randy Howard, Chuck Woodbury, Dewayne Robinson and Jim Birge. Honorary pallbearers are John Parker Page and Ashton Blake Whisenant (Great-Grandchildren).
Mr. Powell retired from Monsanto and most knew him as Jim. He was a Primitive Baptist Church Elder,
