James Ira "Butch" Sivley, 85, of Decatur, passed away on January 25, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be on January 30th, 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Grace River Community Church, 2018 Cleveland Ave S.W. Decatur, AL. Celebration of Life service will follow visitation at Grace River Community Church with Barry Sempsrott officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Roselawn Cemetery. Grace River Community Church will host a reception following the graveside service.
James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Hanson) Sivley; children, Karen Smith, Frank (Vanessa) Sivley, John (Karen) Sivley, Kennith Sivley, and Laura Sivley; brother, Larry (Elizabeth) Sivley; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Sivley; mother, Effie Sivley; son, James "little Butch" Sivley and grandson, Joseph "JJ" Moore.
Pallbearers will be Frank Sivley, John Sivley, Kennith Sivley, Justin Sivley, Blake Sivley, and Cody Watson.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
