
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Arbana Crabtree and his wife Clara Anna Hicks Crabtree, and sisters Pauline Niemela, Mona J. Wheeler and Virginia N. Winkler.
Mr. Crabtree graduated from Central High School and Tennessee Temple Seminary and also attended New Orleans Theological Seminary. He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in World War II. He was active in many local churches and loved to lead the singing. He worked in retail for many of his years and was a manager of Miller Brothers and the owner of Crabtree’s Men’s Wear. Mr. Crabtree was a member of Civitans. Mr. and Mr. Crabtree retired to Crossville, TN in the late 1980’s.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-laws Mary Anna and Robert W. Clemons and Sarah and Douglas E. Daugherty, Sr. Grandchildren include Robert Wesley Clemons and his wife Laura M. Clemons, Thankful Davis and husband John Lawrence Davis, Douglas Daugherty, Jr. and wife Ashley Carter Daugherty, John M. Daugherty, Benjamin H. Daugherty, William Christian Daugherty, and Sally Virginia Daugherty. Great-grandchildren are Marion Light Davis and John Levi Davis and Turner Daugherty and Miles Everett Daugherty. He had one nephew Pete Winkler married to Christine Winkler.
A graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Bailey Avenue, Tuesday at 2:00 PM with Roselawn Funeral Home Decatur, Alabama directing.
