

Funeral services and a celebration of the life of K.C. Poole will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Michael Poole and the Reverend James Spears officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 13 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 (family viewing will be from 5:00 pm till 6:00). Mr. Poole passed away on Monday, January 9 at his home in Greenbrier. His body will be interred at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.
King Charles Poole , or “Pop Poole” as he was known to everyone, was born to Charles and Mary Gordon Poole in Limestone county on February 24, 1923. He married Edna Henderson, the love of his life, before joining the Navy to serve his country in World War II. Returning home from the war, he farmed with his father until 1953 when he moved with his family to Detroit, Michigan where worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1965 he returned to Limestone County and built his home in Greenbrier. He worked for 3M and later, General Motors.
Reverend Poole was ordained as a minister at Greenbrier Baptist Church in 1968 and , through the years received numerous honors including an honorary PhD from Faith Baptist and Bible College in Resaca, Georgia. He was called to evangelism and, with the Reverend D.A. Emerson, preached tent revivals across the south. With the help of the Lord, he organized Ironman Baptist Church in Hartselle and later, Anchor Baptist Church in Priceville where he preached for more than 25 years. After retiring in March 2001, he moved to Texas but returned to Alabama in 2002. He resumed his calling as an evangelist preacher at Temple Baptist Church in Madison and served as pastor at Nebo Community Church in Tanner until his retirement in February of 2011. He continued to speak at churches and to youth groups across North Alabama and loved to share “the good news” with everyone he met.
Reverend Poole is survived by two sons, Randy and wife Lois, and Gary and wife Patsy, all of Athens. He has six grandchildren including Terri Norris and husband Frank of Marietta, Georgia; Sandy Christal of San Antonio, Texas; Rick Poole and wife Windy of Houston, Texas; Andrew Poole and wife Kristy of Tanner, Alabama; Tiffany Poole of Harvest, Alabama; and Delton Poole of Telluride, Colorado. He also has two great grand children, Connor and Garrett Christal of San Antonio, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Rick Poole, Andrew Poole, Delton Poole, Bill Bishop, Johnny Evans and Donnie Smith. Honorary pallbearers are James Daly, Bob Thompson, Stan Henderson and Paul Poole.
