Memorial service for Mary Stuart Beard, 87, of Decatur will be Monday, February 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry L. Greer and Dr. Ken Dunivant officiating. Visitation will follow from 10:45 a.m. until noon at the church.
Mrs. Beard, who died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital, was born October 7, 1924, in Decatur to Clyde Crump Terrell and Mary Banks Terrell. Stuart Beard worked many jobs and did well. Most recently, as church secretary for her church. She loved children, dogs and socializing with her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David Turner Beard; and two daughters, Atha Jennings Beard and Molly Stuart Rung.
Survivors include one son, David Turner Beard of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Belinda Turner Ottoson of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Katherine Banks Ottoson and Mark Thomas Ottoson, both of Omaha, Neb., Maggie Stuart Rung and Elizabeth Anne Rung, both of Gilbert, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
