

Sam Hudson, known as The Vegetable Man, age 79, of Decatur, passed away on November 22, 2017. He served his country in the US Air Force as Airman 3rd Class. Sam spent 37 years with Primerica Financial Services. He quickly moved his way through the ranks to eventually become a National Sales Director. Sam loved growing vegetables, canning, cooking, and sharing them as well. He often carried meals to those in need. Sam will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Riddick McKinley Hudson and Lorene Neal Hudson; daughter, Deborah Hudson; sisters, Alice Hudson, Christine McKerley, Tessie Barnes, and Vermell Jones; brothers, Bobby Hudson, Royge Hudson and Roy Hudson.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Judy Gentry Hudson of Decatur; daughter, Josie Hudson of Hartselle; sons, Randy Hudson (Kim) of Huntsville, Terry Hudson (Jessie) of West Lake Village, California; grandchildren, Madison Hurn (Benji) of Cullman, Shelby and Preston Hudson of Huntsville, Ivy Hudson of West Lake Village, California, and Raylee Mae Brown of Hartselle; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Emma Hurn of Cullman; sisters, Shirley Ann Campbell of Virginia, Ronnie DiToma of Florida, and Justine Hodges of Georgia.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Vernon Stevens Jr. and Rev. Mark Teet officiating. Mr. Hudson will lie in state one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
