

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Roselawn Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
A burial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Lay Cemetery in Ethridge, Tenn.
Sue is survived by her children, H.H. Caldwell (Anne) of Niceville, Fla., and Mary Sue Fleischauer (Eric) of Decatur, Ala., stepdaughter Anne Richardson of Niceville, Fla., and grandchildren John Fleischauer of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Sarah Fleischauer of Decatur, Ala.
Sue was born November 9, 1929 in Ethridge, Tenn. to James Monroe and Carrie Beard Stewart, who predeceased her. She was the youngest of eight children who survived to adulthood. All four sisters and three brothers predecease her. Two husbands, Henry Harden Caldwell, Sr. and Alfred Joseph Richardson, also predecease her.
Sue began her 43-year teaching career at the age of 19, following her graduation from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn. She taught most of those years in the Metro Nashville Public School System, teaching first elementary school and then becoming a school librarian.
Sue was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. After growing up in Ethridge United Methodist Church, she joined Waverly Place United Methodist Church (later Forest Hills United Methodist Church) when she moved to Nashville. She was a member of the Rena Greene Sunday School Class for 57 years. She joined Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church when she moved to Decatur in 2007.
