Funeral for C. Thurman Holmes, 79, of Decatur will be Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Austinville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dallas Culver officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Holmes, who died Monday, January 31, 2011, at his residence, was born May 3, 1931, in Morgan County to Curtis and Bertha Holmes. He was a member of Austinville United Methodist Church. He had been retired for 16 years from the Pipefitters and Plumbers Union Local No. 377. His sister, Lorene Anders, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jearldean Holmes; one son, Alan Holmes (Judy); one daughter, Karen Aldridge (Richard); two brothers, Leon Holmes (Dolly) and Eugene Holmes (Barbara); four grandchildren, Heather Smith (Chris), Amanda Coleman, Dustin Holmes and Corey Holmes; one stepgrandchild, Stephanie Ellis (Jared); five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austinville United Methodist Church or to Hospice of North Alabama.
