Willis Edgar Young Jr., age 86, of Decatur passed away on August 27th. Mr. Young was born and raised in Crystal Springs, MS to the late Willis Edgar and Nettie Young in 1928. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and then earned his accounting degree from the University of Mississippi in 1952, earned his CPA certification following and then earned his jurist doctorate degree from the Jackson School of Law. He was the founder of W.E. Young, CPA firm which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013, and where he still continued to work most days. His greatest joys were spending time at his home on the Tennessee River, working in his garden and enjoying Ole Miss football and he was a lifetime member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Young; a daughter, Janis Young of Guntersville; three sons, Bobby (Coyce) of Kissimmee, FL, formerly of Huntsville, David (Jan) of Cullman and Leslie of Decatur; two brothers, Arnold Young of Crystal Springs, MS and Burnett Young of Meridian, MS; grandchildren, Kim (Ken) Landrum, Elaine (Denton) Battles, Leah Young Duke, Paul Young, Koehler Young and Holly Brunner; and great-grandchildren, Dillon and Samantha Battles, Sophia and Keaton Duke, Laura Olivia and Cade Young, and Nichole Hopper.
Visitation and funeral services will be on Friday, August 29th at Roselawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Nettie Young scholarship fund and may be sent to the Ole Miss Alumni Association, P.O. Box 1848, University, MS 38677.
