On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Henry's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Henry, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS Plaice SS390 in 1944, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin, a member of our Greatest Generation, and a great Patriot.

I remember back around maybe  '69/'70 when we (LAD*108) were still on Siegel St & Al was the ECC in ENG*271.....we were both at a Third Alarm in a furniture store on Myrtle Ave.....after the Fire we drove back to qtrs (a good distance as went on the Third)....after we backed into qtrs i was walking alongside the Rig & on the side running board i saw a ring just sitting there...it was Al's 20 year ring which flew off his hand as he was hooking up.....what are the chances of it sitting there all the way back ?.......REST IN PEACE BROTHER....THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE BOTH MILITARY (WW2) & FDNY..... PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.

Tom and family,
I got you dads locker when I was assigned to E-271 in late 1978. I met him a few times and always was a good "brother" with words of encouragement.It was also a pleasure working with you Tom for a year before I transferred. So sorry for your loss and may he Rest In Peace.

Dear Tom and Family;   I am sorry to miss the gathering to remember your Father, his life and accomplishments as he sets out on the next journey, but I'm down in Puerto Rico.
   I am told that your Dad and mine studied together.  I know that the effort and commitment that that entails and the bonds that can create.  I think about that often as you and I work together now, the history and the nice, solid platform you and I have having such men as Fathers.
   I have great respect for you Tom, and although I never met your Dad (that I can remember!) I am certain he was a man with great capability, bravery, and a fine moral compass if he and your Mom raised a man such as yourself.
