Henry. Was the nicest guy anyone wanted to have as a friend.  He played with his brothers against the peach tree lane street hockey team at mount Sinai jr high tennis courts.  When we showed up. And Henry”Hank” was the Goalie. We knew we were in for a long game. For his size. He moved well. We won some and we lost some. 
Henry mount Sinai misses you already. Just wait till we all hit Heaven.  We want a Rematch. 
We will miss you forever

Dear Diane and Family,

Henry was a unique person in many ways.  He was a great co-worker, friend and family man as you all know.  He always spoke, with a smile on his face, about his grandchildren.  
In the office he was always cooperative and genuinely cared to do "the  right thing".   He shared his knowledge and past experience with all.  He also loved talking about his Mets contract signings and trades.
Diane, speaking with you Monday I tried to convey these sentiments to you with the hope how much Henry meant to us in the office.   Please accept these sincere words of sympathy from me and his coworkers as he truly will be missed.

So many memories, so many smiles from all the time at the firehouse, the vacations at  Riding Hi, barbeques, parties, parades. Such a big part of my memories. Great prom date. Always had the biggest heart. I hope you know how loved you are always.

My sincere condolences to the Van Middelem family and friends.
I have been fortunate enough to have known Henry as a friend and colleague for a little over 3 years.  I believe we are all better having known him.  
Henry had a way about him like many of us, a bit ruff around the edges however with him this was one of his endearing qualities.  With Henry you always knew where you stood.  He was direct and didn’t sugar coat anything, he spoke plainly, from the heart and it showed in all he did.  If lucky enough to be a trusted friend he would share and exchange stories showing you how happy he was as a husband, father and grandfather.  He was humble in his ways, never bragging although he easily could have.  Henry was very proud of his family and the life you all shared together evident by shared stories about weekends, trips and time with family.  His light was brightest to those who knew him best, he was a great husband father grandfather and friend.  
May God bless you and keep you my friend. 

I graduated with Henry from ELVHS.  He was a really nice guy then and we were acquaintances and always friendly to each other.   I am so sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age.  My sincere condolences to his family.  RIP.

I offer my most sincere condolences to the Van Middelem for the  passing of Henry. He was a good coworker who was cordial and friendly. In fact he was a good person all around. May he be at eternal peace free from life's challenges. He most certainly will be greatly missed by all that knew/know him.

Henry was always there with a guiding hand if I had any questions and helped me many times.

My Sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Henry.  I worked with Henry and always saw him early in the morning as we both come in very early.  He was always a comfort to see as we were always the only ones in the building that early and he always had a warm disposition about him.  Henry was always pleasant to be around.  He was very engaging and kind, truly genuine. Henry you will be missed! May you rest in peace.  Wishing the family and friends blessings and strength your time of need.

Henry was such a wonderful person to me as a friend and co-worker.  We would talk everyday about the Mets, Jets, and Islanders.  I'm sure going to miss him.
