

Born on November 10, 1940, in Jamaica, New York. James was a devoted husband, father & grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He was known for his sense of humor, work ethic & love of cherry Pepsi.
James was a Navy Veteran, serving his hold tour of duty on the USS Boston CAG1 and an active member of the USS Boston Shipmates.
He is survived by his wife Helene, his children Michele Ouwerkerk and Suzanne Ammon, his son-in-law Kenny Ouwerkerk and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan Ouwerkerk. He is also survived by his sister Joan Rzonca and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Gertrude Ammon and his sister Gladys Bischoff.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate his life.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on December 21, 2025. The visitation hours are from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A funeral service will take place at Community Presbyterian Church, 1843 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729, on December 22, 2025, from 10:00 am.
The committal service will be held at Pine lawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on December 22, 2025, starting at 11:30 am.
