Lydia was always a great host whenever we went to visit her in New York. Although I did not know her super well, she never failed to send birthday and holiday wishes every year. She was a wonderful best friend to my grandma, and that is the most important gift to anyone. Thinking of all her family and friends during this time.

March 23, 2018, when Lydia had a party to celebrate my mom Sheila's 79th birthday. Lydia and Sheila were only a few weeks apart in age!

January 2, 2019. My kids and I visited New York and we had a wonderful time visiting Lydia. My kids still remember her voice and expressions from hearing us on the phone while they were growing up 💓

Lydia was an exceptional person, an amazing friend, and a truly talented artist! She was one of the most generous people I knew. When my mom, her good friend of fifty+ years,  had a stroke and I came to live in Queens, she didn't hesitate to loan her car or walk miles in the heat carrying a special birthday cake for my mom who  had been recovering from surgery. The most memorable thing she ever told me, when I was under a lot of stress, was, "There's always a solution."  I'll never forget that. 

She was thoughtful and always spoke kindly of others... except for the one priest who said there were no pets in heaven! She loved her animals! I recall vividly her stories of Nino, Ashy, Chloe, the lovebirds, and most recently Corky the rambunctious cat! I also remember her turtle who lived with her for maybe 30 years. Her yard and her home were always open to an animal in need. I hope she'll get to chat with St. Francis in her new heavenly home. I'll miss her voice and her spirit.

Lydia and I were friends for more than 50 years. We often attended teacher retirement craft classes together. There Lydia applied her artistic skills to create fantastically beautiful stained glass creations - clocks, lamps, door and window panels, mirrors, jewelry boxes - from complicated patterns or her own designs. She was the consummate stained glass artisan! 

I was not a pet owner but I enjoyed seeing her pleasure with her cat or dog or even in telling me of their antics! 

She has left a world often painful or lonely to join the company of her parents and our mutual friends in eternity.

Lydia was such a wonderful family friend. She was always welcoming to my family and  me. We loved  to visit her place, especially at Christmas. My mom and her had so much fun  on their outings to flea market, churches and the like.  It was a pleasure to know her, and I know she is now in a better place with Jesus.
