Dr. Vautrin was our family doctor in Dix Hills. I had many ear infections so he came to our house frequently when I was little. He was a wonderfully kind man that I was not afraid of since I was very shy. I have thought of him in my adulthood. I am happy to know he lived a long  and happy life. God bless your family.


So very blessed to have shared wonderful memories together with your family including your parents. I vividly recall dropping Stephen over to your house and meeting your parents for the first time. Your father shared stories of your mom with such love and admiration as he held her hand. Loved going to  the Hills lacrosse games for the boys and seeing your parents in the stands. Pop Pop was always a dapper dresser and we  loved seeing him in his berets when the weather was cold.  Such a special time having our fathers together and watching them swap stories of their generation and growing up in France and Malta. Your father Valerie and your grandfather Quinn was a man of good character and a loving, compassionate and genuine man. Quinn and Stephen  have wonderful role models in them and now have angels guiding them as do we....
Our deepest condolences on your loss of a beautiful soul. May the memories you have help you to heal.

With gratitude to God, I celebrate the life of a true gentle man, Maurice Vautrin  Gardinier.  He loved his God, his "Darling Thecla", his family, and his vocation.  He was a caring exceptional doctor and a loving friend.  He will be missed by many. I have wonderful memories of Christmas Masses and celebrations  and group meetings at their family home. Our Lord and  Thecla and all those he loved I'm sure are celebrating his coming home to Heaven. I will pray for him and to him as long as I am here,  anticipating seeing him again one day. A neighbor and patient of Dr. Vautrin-Gardinier for many years, the memories are plentiful! What stands out the most is Dr. V-G's dedication to the profession of medicine.  I remember house calls in the early 1970s when I was a little girl, home sick from school. I also remember a house call in 1999 to my mom during her illness, long after the expectation of that had passed.  How comforted we were before her passing to have him guide us with next steps; someone we could trust and who cared deeply in that time of need.  How lucky we all were to have known him . He will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered with love.  He leaves a beautiful legacy behind in his family.  Wishing you all peace.

What a loving man your father/grandfather was. You could always expect a huge hug when you saw him. Christmas mass at your home was a wonderful experience. Loved when he danced! I’ll never forget his and your mom’s kindness. I particularly appreciated him coming for  a house call two nights before my wedding when I had a very high fever. He made sure I was healthy on my wedding day. These are just a few of the special memories I will hold dear. Valerie, how blessed your dad was to have such a wonderful, caring daughter by his side at all moments of his life and death. I know it was as special for you as it was for him. My brother Philip shared your fathers Obit.  What a great man he was,  He took care of me and all my family  members, He along with your mom were always present during the prayer meetings.  

I still remember when my mom was dyeing he came over and said there was not much to do , But gave her enough medicine that she did not suffer.  He loved my mom and dad.

Dr Vautrin. I have such wonderful memories of you and your beautiful family. You were my family doctor growing up and were so very special to our family. Your faith, your humor, your French accent. The Christmas parties every year. So many memories of such a special man. May you rest in eternal peace in a place of unimaginable joy, united with your wife again. Thank you for having such a huge impact on our family. 

The memories of Maurice will always be with my spirit. 
He was my Godfather,  as a matter of fact ,will always be my Godfather more than will ever be. Maurice was also my childhood doctor and most importantly my friend and mentor growing up  .  He was present at my  infant  Baptism,  as he is also present to me upon his entry into eternal paradise.
 It was a tradition in the Barry household every Christmas afternoon , Dr. Vautrin  would ring the front door as everyone would yell, " John Your Godfather is here!" He would always come bearing gifts. One year he gave me a wooden hand carved marionette imported from France along with a children's book that is still as popular today as it was then  " The  Very Hungry Caterpillar"  .. he of course signed it under the smiling sun on the front page.  I cherish this book to this day . Such loving memories of My Godfather. Maurice you are at rest now in the most beautiful garden God created just for you.

Friend, Doctor, Catholic gentleman.  Maurice, as his beautiful daughter, Valerie, has described it, has seen Jesus and joins his “darling wife” Thecla.  His gentle medical skills touched so many and his unbounded Christ-like  love was healing, comforting and without limit.  May Our Lord bring him to a Glorious eternity.
