Thomas Sconzo, Sr., 87, of Deer Park, died peacefully on December 13, 2015. He was born September 16, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Anthony and Theresa Sconzo. He married the love of his life, Ann Lamagese on April 26, 1952, and they lived in Deer Park for over 40 years before retiring to West Palm Beach.
For over 50 years, one of Tom’s greatest passions was serving with the Deer Park Fire Department—his red fireman’s jacket a constant staple in his wardrobe. He was also a Knights of Columbus member and an usher at St. Cyril and Methodius Church. One of his favorite things to do was play Santa Claus for his family. Every Christmas Eve he would come down the stairs jingling his bells with a hearty ho-ho-ho and bag full of gifts. You could also count on him to know the latest Top 40 hits, whip up a mean White Russian or gin martini, and his pancake breakfasts rivaled that of any IHOP or diner. His bright smile, playful personality and affectionate bear hugs will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, and four children, Michelle (Rick) Fantucchio, Thomas II (Devon), Theresa (Glenn) Sepe and Ralph (Nancy). He has 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
