Marilyn was born in Greenville Tennessee to Larry and Juanita Mathews on June 8,1946. She married Barry Cox in 1973 in Lousiville Kentucky. In her earlier years, she received her cosmetology license and was a beautician in Louisville Kentucky. After moving to Deerfield Beach Florida in 1984, she was a stay-at-home mother. She loved going to yard sales and flea markets on the weekends. In 1990, she was inspired to open her own consignment store, The White Swan Consignments in Boca Raton, Florida. She successfully owned and operated her business for 20 years! It was even voted Boca Raton’s 2nd Best Consignment store. She was heavily involved with her church, Zion Lutheran, in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She volunteered with Sunday school services, served during their Saturday night services, got baptized with her two children, worked in the preschool, watched her two children grow up in the church and eventually graduate from Zion Lutheran Christian School, and she met countless lifelong friends. Zion was her second “home”. Marilyn was truly one of a kind. She was a strong willed, straight forward, loving and sweet person. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, her little country voice saying, “Bless your little heart”, and her unending love, support, guidance, and protection over her children and family. Her favorite scripture that brought her comfort and peace was “Let him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. 1 Peter 5-7
