June 13, 1956 – November 5, 2025
Patrick "Rick" Gaines, 69, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Lighthouse Point, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 13, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama, Rick lived a life marked by dedication to his work, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, his love for music and a steadfast commitment to those he held dear.
Rick began his professional journey with Eckerd Drug Company, where his drive and leadership quickly propelled him to become the youngest district manager in the company’s history. His ambition and entrepreneurial spirit later led him into the world of finance. As an investment advisor and owner of his own investment firm, Rick built a successful career grounded in trust and integrity. His clients trusted him because he listened, because he explained things, and because he understood that money is never just numbers – it is about taking care of people.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick found joy and fulfillment in nature and physical activity. He started his day at the gym every morning at 5:00am. He was an avid boater and fisherman who cherished time on the water. Whether playing tennis or pickleball or exploring hiking trails, Rick embraced every opportunity to be outdoors. His adventurous spirit was matched by a strong work ethic and unwavering loyalty—qualities that defined both his personal and professional life.
Rick's love for family was central to who he was. Those who knew him remember a man who worked hard not only for success but also to provide for and support those around him.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, James Gaines (Nancy), his mother, Sarah Gaines and granddaughter, Arya Gaines. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Lesley Gaines; daughter, Christina Gaines; stepsons, Brent Yturralde (Poliana) and Blake Yturralde (Ryan); grandchildren, Savanna, Isabella, Emma, Brayden, and Brody; siblings, Drew Gaines (Cindy), Martha Forsyth and Nancy Sue Maxwell (Randy); Nieces, Jessica Holland, Heather Robinson, Dani Gaines and Kristy Joy Williamson and many great nieces and great nephews.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived.
