He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Camilla Olsen Collins and Henry Collins. Nephew, Matthew Collins.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Joan Errico Collins and brother Bruce Collins of Wall Twp. NJ. Niece, Alyson Collins Wynham of Madison, Virginia.
Mr Collins was born in Union City, NJ. Raised in Long Branch, NJ. He and his wife moved to South Florida in 1970.
He graduated Long Branch High School in 1950. Then worked at Branch Manufacturing on Morris Ave. shipping garments. Later Tung Sol Electric Co. in Newark, NJ.
He served in the Army from 1953-1955 in the Military Police unit. He entered during the Korean War. His basic training was at Camp Atterbury, IN and Fort Knox, KY. He was shipped to South Korea, May 1954 where he remained until 1955.
He attended Monmouth College West Long Branch, NJ evenings where he received a B.S. degree in elementary education.
He was a retired school teacher who taught elementary grades at Land O' Pines in Howell Twp, NJ. for nine years and twenty five combined years at Markham Elem and Cypress Elementary in Pompano Beach, FL. He retired in 1995.
The joy of his life were his pet dogs through many years. Especially his two Chihuahua's, Bogie and Lily.
Burial and prayers November 27 at Deerfield Cemetery. Kraeer Becker Funeral Home, 217 E. Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, FL. handled his burial. He was loved by many, because of his gentle nature and extreme kindness. He will be missed tremendously.
