James Patrick Francis Marzano of Pompano Beach, FL and formerly of Monroe, NY, went home to his glorious reward for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Jim went home to heaven on Friday, May 3, 2013.
The son of the late Joseph Marzano and Madeline (Giametto) Marzano, Jim was born March 27, 1932 in Bronx, NY. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Anne Ryder and Antoinette Sanda, and his loving daughter Julie Anne Marzano Loderhose.
Beloved by all who ever met him “Pop” was a kind and generous man. His love and generosity knew no bounds. Jim was a man of many talents who could build or fix just about anything he put his mind to. In his youth he spent some time working the tugs of NY as a Merchant Marine, before joining the Port Authority as a Transit Cop. There he worked the bridges & tunnels of NYC/NJ Port Authority, protecting and serving the public until his retirement. Always a working man Jim went on to be the Building Operations Manager at Falkirk Hospital in Central Valley, NY, Birchwood at Brentwood in Coram, NY and the Town Houses of Lido Beach in Long Island NY. He was always available to friends & family for hands on repairs, improvements & consultations on projects around the house or office. He read the sports page daily; he was an avid NY Yankees fan and continued to follow the NY newspapers online with great pleasure. He maintained his Italian heritage proudly, serving anyone & everyone his Sunday Pasta his entire life. Sunday Mac's & Gravy was a neighborhood tradition you could always depend on. Jim was a big bear of a man who could strike fear in your heart with his big booming voice if you ever crossed him. But, there was never any doubt that he was coming from a place of deep & genuine caring for your health & safety. He knew all our “stories,” having lived most of them right alongside of us, and loved us all unconditionally regardless.
In addition to his loving wife Phyllis (King), Jim is survived by his sister Margaret and brother-in-law Freddie Pallas, of Miami, FL, his 4 sons James Marzano (wife Nina) of Kingston, NY, Joseph Marzano (wife Loretta) of Oakland, FL, Frank Marzano (wife Vickie) of Long Island, NY, Karl Kamysek (wife Laura) of Washington, DC, and 6 daughters Maria Ortiz-Berra-Hilton of Middletown, NY, Phyllis Kamysek-Cohen (husband Michael) of New York, NY, Cecilia St. King (partner Robby Long) of Rhinebeck, NY, Elizabeth Kamysek-DeLuca of Middle Island, NY, and Salvatreice (Sally) Ferretti of Yonkers, NY.
