

Barbara Lee Gideon was born in Sacramento, CA to Jack Howe and Bernice Ray on May 5, 1941. She was raised there by her mother and her great Aunt Lea until age 5, when she moved to Oklahoma with Lea. At 16, she graduated from Shawnee High School and moved with Lea to Del City. It was there at a neighborhood get together that Barbara met Billy Ray Gideon. The two quickly fell in love and were married on December 19, 1958.
Barbara and Bill lived in the Mid-Del area for 34 years, raising their four children: Gina Marie, Gregory Dale, Julie Gayle and Gaybra Leigh. Barbara was often the home room mom and hosted many birthday parties and special events.
Barbara attended college, pursuing a degree in education and later worked at Tinker AFB as a logistics specialist. After leaving Tinker, she taught at the Montessori School in Del City and at St. Mary’s Episcopal school in Edmond. She was active in the Women’s Society of Christian Service at both St. Matthew UMC and Aldersgate UMC.
Bill and Barbara enjoyed travelling together and even spent 2 years living in Taiwan where Bill worked as a contractor after retiring from TAFB. When they returned, they moved to a home on an acreage in Edmond that they lovingly tended to, often hosting family events.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Bill, their 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Greg. She will be remembered for her love of family, her faith, and her many creative talents, including singing, piano, sewing, quilting, genealogy research and gardening.
A reception will be held at the Sunny Lane Event Center, located at 3900 SE 29th St., Del City, OK 73115, on January 2, 2026, starting at 12:30 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home At Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115, on January 2, 2026, beginning at 2:00 pm.
Burial will follow the service at Sunny Lane Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th St., Del City, OK 73115, on January 2, 2026.
