She enjoyed crafts such as knitting, sewing, basket weaving, and quilting. She had a special interest in growing plants and her Koi fish. She raised and showed Irish setters and was proficient in skeet shooting, winning several turkeys in her day.
However, her faith was her primary love. She was a devoted Catholic. She worked as a cook at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Hermosa Beach, California. She also helped by sewing vestments for the priests there and was instrumental in the development of the La Greppia church in Torrance, California.
Betty is survived by her sister Mary Jo Brooks, husband Fred Hacker, daughter Dana Hacker-Pierce and her children Elizabeth, Jared, and Jacob as well as son Mark Hacker and his daughter Venice.
She was preceded in death by parents Gustavo Reyes and Mary Cafazza, and sister, Rose Reyes
