Dorothy Jeannette Jones
25 August, 1926 – 23 November, 2019
Dorothy Jeannette Jones of Del City, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy dedicated her life to the lord and completed her journey November 23, 2019 at the age of 93. Dorothy was prepared and eager to break the bonds of this world to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Dorothy was born in Joplin, Missouri on August 25, 1926 to Clarence Leon and Allice Jeannette Longstreet. She was married to the late Arthur W. Jones for 59 years until his passing. Together they raised five children in the Mid-Del area. She was a member of Sooner Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, and Lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, water aerobics, reading, was a talented seamstress, an amazing quilter that created countless prize worthy works of art. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted friend to many.
Her passion was her grandchildren and she often marveled at the adults they became. She was the type of Grandma that would take them to movies, buy collector cards, comic books, toys, candy and then send them back home with a grin. Grandma's house was a magical place where her grandkids could write with chalk on the sidewalks, walls (sometimes with magic markers), jump off the retaining wall or slide down the stairs in a cardboard box and it was all fine with her. She would also read to them, let them create through coloring books or other creative media, play dress up, or just plain get muddy. It was all OK at Grandma’s.
She was preceded in death by her father Clarence L. and mother Allice J. Longstreet, brother Leon Longstreet, her daughter Janice Rhinehart, her husband Arthur W. Jones, and many lifelong friends.
She is survived by her daughters Marilyn Smith of Del City, OK, Stella Fouche and husband Dennis of Oro Valley, AZ, Anita Buchanan and her husband Monte of Blanchard, OK, and son Marvin Jones of Oklahoma. Her grandchildren Tanya Smith of Bethany, OK, Kimberly Crawford of Wayne, OK, Melissa Coffia of Roff, OK, Darron Buchanan of Ft. Worth, TX, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th St, Del City, OK 73115. Visitation will be held at the funeral home between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Friday November 29, 2019. Burial will follow the funeral at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in her name to her longtime church, Sooner Baptist Church, 5824 SE 15th St, Midwest City, OK 73110.

Dorothy Jeannette Jones
1 December 2019
Dorothy was a friend of my parents. She and my mother had a unique bond. They were both married to soldiers who were both taken as prisoners of the Japanese during WWII. They lived through Hell as prisoners, but came back to become America's greatest generation.
Dorothy was an extrordinary woman who had a patient heart and a loving family. I was a secret admirer of her oldest daughter Janice. When we were young, we would hang out at the American Ex Prisoner of War clubhouse on 15th street in MWC.
I send my deepest condolence's to her family. She will be missed, but is in a better place, Heaven!
